Bellingham Farmers Market

Bellingham’s farmers market roots began in the late 1970s. There were various iterations of a farmers market in the downtown core.

In 1992, a group of passionate citizens and farmers organized what is now the Bellingham Farmers Market Association. The market began as a small gathering of farmers and food vendors off of Railroad Ave. There was a gravel parking lot with a few trees near what is now Bellingham Bay Brewery.

As the organization formalized itself, the market gained in popularity. With City support, Depot Market Square was built in 2006. The Depot provided permanent infrastructure for vendors including the pavilion, a kitchen, electricity and public bathrooms.

Currently, the Depot is used as a City parking lot Monday through Friday, and rented out on weekends by the Parks and Recreation Department. We are proud to call Depot Market Square – the permanent home of the Saturday Bellingham Farmers Market!
